Community stories

Port Adelaide Enfield Library community partners promote literacy to families through their programs for the early years.  They run “Baby Bounce” sessions which are designed especially for children aged 0-2 years. This program introduces children to the joys of language by sharing:  stories, nursery rhymes, finger plays, music and songs.  Another program the libraries run is for pre-school aged children called Preschool Story Time which introduces children and caregivers to a wide variety of books.

These programs give the library staff the opportunity to talk about literacy and the information in the packs for families.   The parents always love the packs and are grateful to receive them. The Let's Read resources are particularly useful at the libraries that are more multicultural, as the books also help the parents learn to read English.
