Communities for Children, facilitated through Anglicare Victoria (formerly St. Luke’s) delivers the ‘Let’s Reads’ kits through partnerships with various local community and health organisations. These have included the Maternal & Child Health Service & Off To An Early Start program (City of Greater Bendigo), BaptCare Home Start program and the Bendigo District Aboriginal Cultural service (BDAC).

The Let’s Read program in Bendigo is supported by the Communities for Children: Language & Literacy Project, as an action of the Early Years Literacy and Language Development Strategy. The strategy was developed in consultation with over 15 organisations across Bendigo, including local government, early years, education and health service providers.

 Our Vision:

  • Each child in Bendigo has rich, nurturing language opportunities
  • Children’s language (development) is everyone’s business

The Early Years Literacy and Language Development Strategy aims to improve literacy and language development for 0-5 year olds across Bendigo from all socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds
