Who is involved

1 book a dayThe implementation of Let's Read into communities began in August 2005. The first community to launch Let's Read was Corio in Geelong, Victoria.

Let’s Read is also being rolled out in communities through the following state government initiatives:


Read for Life – Tasmanian Government initiative

A Tasmanian literacy strategy known as “Read for Life” was announced by the Minister for Education on 4 September 2007. This strategy is a multifaceted approach to address literacy and includes an early childhood program, resourcing libraries with additional books and adult literacy support utilising computers. The early childhood component of this strategy is Let’s Read, and this will target all children under five years of age, for the next three years.

The following communities are beginning to implement Let’s Read under the “Read for Life” initiative:
