Introduction

The development of the Let’s Read initiative has involved:

• A literature review
• Community consultation
• A reference group
• A feasibility study

A linkage grant has been secured from the Australian Research Council to enable a randomised cluster trial to be undertaken in Victoria to examine the efficacy of the Let’s Read initiative.

Communities that implement Let’s Read will also be provided with material to support their community evaluation.

The Centre for Community Child Health has developed a "Literacy Promotion Practice Resource". This Practice Resource provides professionals with an introduction to the topic, a summary of the latest research and practical strategies to support their daily work with young children and their families.
