March 2015
City of Onkaparinga Libraries has partnered with Let’s Read, funding about 350 Let’s Read packs across 6 library sites. Program Coordinator, Danielle, was involved in training 80 staff, ensuring that families can get vital literacy information and Let’s Read resources from anyone and everyone in the libraries.
From the Let’s Read funding, The Smith Family and Onkaparinga Libraries have developed a strong partnership, resulting in a community based Learning Club supported by library staff, to run out of the Woodcroft Library. This has started to bridge gaps and has seen the community discover the amazing services the library has to offer, ensuring ongoing free access to books and literacy resources for families and children in The Smith Family South Australia’s southern communities.
Some feedback from library staff about the training and Let’s Read- ‘Very well informed, friendly, with real passion.’ ‘Training was great. Your work is fantastic and very important’, ‘I learnt lots of good ways to engage parents in conversations about the 'Lets Read' program’.
