Today the Let’s Read community program was launched in Dandenong. About 300 children in the City of Greater Dandenong, City of Casey and Shire of Cardinia will benefit from this program that will be delivered to parents through local playgroups.
Let’s Read will be co-ordinated in Dandenong by The Smith Family in conjunction with Playgroup Victoria, Best Start (City of Greater Dandenong), Victorian Aboriginal Childcare Agency, Communities for Children, and other local organisations. Families with children aged 4 months, 12 months, 18 months and 3.5 years will be provided with resource packs, including tips on how to read to babies and toddlers; suggested reading lists; a DVD demonstrating ways to involve young children in reading; and an age-appropriate book.
